Is there anything better in the world than a moist and delicious chocolate cake? How about one that you’re allowed to have while dieting? Thanks to alternatives that fall under a Paleo diet, the days of being health conscious while not being allowed to partake in your favorite desserts are a thing of the past! This recipe literally lets you have your cake and eat it too!
Ingredients
Chocolate Cake
- 1 cup almond flour
- ½ cup raw cacao powder
- ¼ cup coconut flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ½ cup ghee or 1 stick of grass-fed butter, melted
- 4 eggs, room temperature
- ½ cup dairy-free chocolate chunks
Chocolate Ganache Frosting
- 1 ten ounce package of dairy-free chocolate chips
- 4 tablespoons ghee or grass-fed butter
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup, to taste
Instructions
Chocolate Cake
- Firstly, combine almond flour, cacao, coconut flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.
- Secondly, add the maple syrup and melted butter while mixing thoroughly.
- Add the eggs also and continue to mix well.
- Stir in the chocolate chunks and after that spoon the batter into two greased 6-inch round cake pans.
- Bake at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool.
Chocolate Ganache Frosting
- Melt the chocolate while using the double boiler method with a glass bowl over a pot of simmering water.
- When the chocolate begins to melt, add the ghee and maple syrup and mix until smooth.
- Finally, remove the chocolate from heat, allow it to cool slightly, and pour it on top of the cooled cake.
